I decided to do a temporary move during the pandemic. This is my journey presented in this film. Thank you to Toyota for lending me the 2020 Camry Hybrid for this solo road trip through the southern United States.

Banff, Alberta is Canada’s first national park. It blew up on social media because there are so many epic scenes from the 7k+ high gondola ride to hot springs, downtown and of course, stunning Lake Louise. You can visit and play outside during the warmer temps of the summer, but check out this travelogue of my trip in the winter. Filmed in January 2020. Sometimes I’m in the mood to just play in the rain. It’s so freeing when you just let go. The rain can be a catalyst to a range of emotions which I explore in this moody cinematic short film. At Jockey’s Ridge State Park in Nags Head, NC, you should definitely pick up a kite to fly for your visit. It’s the most euphoric feeling, especially if you have attempted to fly a kite before. The thing is, the kite will practically fly itself. I had some anxiety about my attempt before going - I had visions of me just running and failing over and over. Someone should have told me that all you have to do is lift it up and it goes. This video also shares the story about human’s attempts at flying with a visit to the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hill, NC. Ending with my experience at hang gliding school on the dunes of Jockey’s Ridge.

I got an email reminding me that if I wanted to see the fall colors of the leaves changing in the mountains, then I needed to make it happen ASAP. I grabbed my best friend and we headed to Asheville, NC. I hope you enjoy this cinematic short film of a road trip that features a stop in Asheville. Dayvee | Exploring Blue Ridge Mountains

In Johns Island, South Carolina, hidden behind a chain-linked fence, is thought to be one of the oldest living oak trees east of the Mississippi River. It’s the Angel Oak Tree which stands 65 feet (20m or 6 stories) tall, is 28 ft (8.5 m) in circumference, and an area of 17,000 square feet is shaded by its tentacular crown. Estimated to be 400-500 years old, this Southern live oak has survived a number of hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes. It was damaged by Hurricane Hugo in 1989 but recovered and continues to grow. This story is an example of how we can become better travelers by learning the full history of the places we visit - the beautiful and the horrifying.
